Total dissolved solids (TDS)
What is total dissolved solids (tds) in coffee?
Total dissolved solids (TDS) measures how much coffee is dissolved in the cup, shown as a percentage. It describes strength. Filter coffee is typically around 1.15–1.45% TDS, while espresso is usually 8–12%. It is measured with a refractometer.
TDS tells you how strong a coffee is; combined with the dose and the drink weight it lets you calculate the extraction yield.
