What is brew ratio in coffee?
The brew ratio is the weight of coffee compared with the weight of water, written like 1:16 (1 g of coffee for every 16 g of water). Filter coffee usually sits between 1:15 and 1:17, espresso around 1:2, and Turkish coffee around 1:10.
Ratios are measured by weight, not volume, because coffee density varies. Use the brew ratio calculator to work out any recipe.
