Who we are

Daily Extraction is run by Callum Mckeown, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. For data protection law, Callum Mckeown is the controller of any personal data described here. Contact: dailyextraction@protonmail.com.

What we collect and why

Server logs (every visitor)

Our website is hosted by Vercel. Like any web server, it records basic technical details when a page is requested: IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page and the time. We use these only to keep the site secure and working. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in running a secure website. Logs are kept for a short period by Vercel under its own retention rules and are not used to identify you.

Analytics

We don’t currently run analytics. If we add it, we’ll only use a cookie-free, privacy-friendly service, and we’ll update this page first.

Preferences stored in your browser

If you switch between the light and dark edition, your choice is saved in your own browser’s local storage so it’s remembered next time. It never leaves your device. Quiz answers live only in the page address, so you can share a result if you choose.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we hold your email address to send it. Lawful basis: your consent. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and we delete your address when you leave the list.

Emails you send us

If you contact us, we use your email and message only to reply and to improve the site (for example, correcting a guide). Lawful basis: legitimate interests. We keep correspondence for up to two years, then delete it.

Cookies

Daily Extraction sets no cookies. Fonts, search and every other feature are served from our own domain, so visiting the site doesn’t contact advertising or social media networks.

Some guides may in future include affiliate links to retailers. If you click one, the retailer’s own website may use cookies to record that you came from us; that happens on their site under their privacy policy. See our affiliate disclosure.

Who we share data with

We never sell or rent personal data. We use a small number of service providers (“processors”) who handle data only on our instructions:

  • Vercel Inc. for website hosting.
  • Our email provider, for messages you send us.

Some providers are based outside the UK, including in the United States. Where data leaves the UK, it’s protected by UK adequacy regulations (such as the UK–US Data Bridge) or by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To use any of these rights, email dailyextraction@protonmail.com. We’ll respond within one month.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We’d appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Children

This site is a general coffee reference and isn’t aimed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect their personal data.

Security

The site is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections, and we keep the personal data we hold to a minimum.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, we’ll update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
