Grind size
What is grind size in coffee?
Grind size is how finely coffee beans are broken up before brewing. It ranges from powder (Turkish coffee) through fine (espresso), medium-fine (V60), medium (drip) to coarse (French press, cold brew). Finer grinds extract faster, so the grind must match the method’s contact time.
Grind consistency matters as much as size: a burr grinder gives even particles that extract at the same rate.
