What is the Fellow Aiden?
The Fellow Aiden is a programmable drip coffee maker designed to brew like pour-over. It controls the water temperature through each phase, starts with a bloom, then pours in measured pulses through an adjustable showerhead. It has a single-serve basket and a batch basket for up to 10 cups (1.5 litres), Brew Profiles by roast level, an app, and a cold brew mode.

The Fellow Aiden is a drip coffee maker that tries to think like a pour-over. Instead of running a tank of hot water over the coffee in one go, it blooms the grounds, then pours in measured pulses through an adjustable showerhead, changing the water temperature for each phase. It has a single-serve basket and a batch basket for up to 10 cups, built-in Brew Profiles, an app, and a cold brew mode that’s ready in about 90 minutes. Here’s how it works and what you can set.
The short version
- Programmable drip that brews in pour-over stages: bloom, then pulses.
- Temperature control through each phase of the brew.
- Two baskets: single cup (#2 cone filter) or up to 10 cups (basket filter).
- Brew Profiles by roast level, from roasters, or your own.
- Cold brew in about 90 minutes, with a hot bloom and cooler water.
How does the Aiden brew?
Fellow describes three things it controls:
- Temperature. Aiden controls the water temperature “to the degree” throughout the brew, adjusting it “at key moments to match each phase of extraction”.
- Bloom and pulses. It starts with a dedicated bloom, then pours in measured pulses to guide water through the coffee bed, “preventing harshness and uneven extraction”.
- Showerhead. An adjustable showerhead spreads water evenly, adapting its coverage for a single cup or a full carafe.
You choose a Brew Profile on the colour screen: built-in profiles by roast level, profiles recommended by roasters, or your own. Coffee Supreme notes an Instant Brew Mode that skips the guidance and brews at a single touch.

Can it make cold brew?
Yes, quickly. Aiden’s cold brew profile starts with a hot bloom, then brews with cooler water in a slow drip, ready in about 90 minutes instead of overnight, Fellow says. You can adjust the profile to make concentrates. It’s a different drink from a long-steeped cold brew, but much faster.
How does it compare?
Tom’s Guide, reviewing the xBloom Studio, compared the two: it uses the Aiden for batch brews, though it can do single doses, and found it accessible for anyone who wants to put in a filter and grounds and come back to a jug of coffee, while still offering custom temperature and brewing settings. That makes it more of an everyday drip machine than a hands-on single-cup brewer like the xBloom.

What you’ll need
Words in this guide
- Pour-over
- Pour-over is a way of making filter coffee by hand: you pour hot water over ground coffee in a filter cone and let it drip through into a cup or jug.
- Bloom
- The bloom is the first small pour of water in a brew, usually 2–3 times the weight of the coffee, followed by a 30–45 second pause.
- Roast level
- Roast level describes how long and how hot coffee beans were roasted, usually labelled light, medium or dark.
- Extraction
- Extraction is the process of water dissolving flavour compounds out of ground coffee.
- Specialty coffee
- Specialty coffee is high-quality coffee graded at 80 points or more out of 100 by trained tasters using the Specialty Coffee Association's scoring system.
- Coffee concentrate
- A coffee concentrate is coffee brewed much stronger than you would drink it, using less water, and then diluted with water, milk or ice to serve.
