The Bialetti Brikka Induction is the induction-ready version of the Bialetti Brikka, the moka pot known for its frothy top. It has a two-layer base, stainless steel on the outside and aluminium on the inside, which heats evenly on all hob types, including induction. Here’s how to use it, how much it makes and how to look after it.
The short version
- Cold water to the marked level, using the measuring cup that comes with it.
- Ground coffee in the filter. Don’t press it down.
- Screw the top on firmly.
- Medium heat. On induction, avoid the highest setting.
- Froth forms as the coffee rises. Pour once the bubbling stops.
How is the Brikka Induction different from the Brikka?
It makes the same style of coffee, with a frothy top formed as the coffee comes up into the top chamber. The difference is the base.
| Bialetti Brikka | Bialetti Brikka Induction | |
|---|---|---|
| Coffee | Frothy top as the coffee rises | The same |
| Base | Aluminium | Two layers: stainless steel outside, aluminium inside |
| Induction | No, without an adapter plate | Yes |
| Gas and electric | Yes | Yes |
On the Brikka page you’ll find how its valve builds up pressure and releases the coffee in a burst, which is where the froth comes from.
What do you need?
| You’ll need | Notes |
|---|---|
| A Bialetti Brikka Induction | Comes with a measuring cup for the water |
| Ground coffee | Coffee ground for moka pots |
| Cold water | Measured to the marked level |
| A hob | Induction, gas or electric |
How much coffee does it make?
Bialetti lists the 4-cup Brikka Induction at about 160 ml of coffee, about 16.5 cm tall with a base about 11.5 cm across. Bialetti counts a “cup” as a small espresso cup of about 30 ml, not a mug. Some retailers give different capacities for the 4-cup, from 120 ml to 170 ml, so check the listing for the pot you’re buying.
Always fill the water to the marked level with the supplied measuring cup.
What grind size should I use?
Use coffee ground for moka pots.
How do you use the Brikka Induction, step by step?
- Measure cold water with the supplied cup and fill the base to the marked level.
- Fill the filter with ground coffee. Don’t press it down, and wipe the rim clean.
- Screw the top on firmly, so the pot seals.
- Heat on a medium setting. On induction, avoid the highest setting.
- Watch the froth form as the coffee rises into the top chamber.
- Pour once the bubbling stops.
Why isn’t my Brikka Induction working properly?
| Problem | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Little or no froth | Wrong amount of water | Fill to the marked level with the supplied measuring cup |
| Using the highest induction setting | Too much heat | Use a medium setting; Bialetti advises avoiding the highest on induction |
| Leaks around the middle | Not screwed on firmly, or grounds on the rim | Wipe the rim and screw the top on firmly |
How do you clean the Brikka Induction?
Let it cool, then wash it by hand. It isn’t dishwasher safe. Keep the rim of the filter clean so the pot seals properly, and let the parts dry before putting it back together.

Brikka Induction vs other Bialetti pots

What's the difference between the Brikka and the Brikka Induction?
They make the same kind of coffee, with a frothy top formed as the coffee rises. The Brikka Induction adds a two-layer base, steel outside and aluminium inside, so it works on induction hobs as well as gas and electric. The standard aluminium Brikka needs an adapter plate for induction.
How much coffee does the Brikka Induction make?
Bialetti lists the 4-cup Brikka Induction at about 160 ml of coffee, where a "cup" means a small espresso cup of about 30 ml. Some retailers give slightly different figures, from 120 ml to 170 ml, so check the listing for the exact pot you're buying.
What heat should I use for the Brikka Induction?
Use a medium setting, and on an induction hob avoid the highest setting. Start with cold water in the base, filled to the marked level with the supplied measuring cup.
When is the Brikka Induction finished?
As the coffee rises into the top chamber, froth forms on top. Once the bubbling has stopped, it's done; take it off the heat and pour.
