> The AeroPress Go is the travel version of the AeroPress, released in 2019. It brews exactly like the Original but has a smaller chamber, up to 8 oz (237 ml), and packs inside its own 15 oz (444 ml) mug with a lid, together with a scoop, a fold-up stirrer and a holder for about 20 filters.

## At a glance

- Grind: Medium-fine (table salt)
- Category: Hybrid & Air-pressure (Hybrid)
- Difficulty: Beginner
- Origin: United States, 2019
- Also known as: AeroPress Go travel coffee press, AeroPress Go travel coffee maker, travel AeroPress

## Steps

1. **Unpack it**: Take the lid off the mug and lift out the filter holder, the chamber and the plunger. The stirrer and scoop are stored inside the plunger.
2. **Fit a filter**: Put a paper filter in the filter cap and screw the cap onto the chamber. Stand the chamber on the mug.
3. **Add the coffee**: Measure the coffee with the scoop that comes with the Go and add it to the chamber.
4. **Add water and stir**: Pour in hot water to the marks on the chamber and stir with the fold-up stirrer.
5. **Press**: Put the plunger in and press down slowly and steadily.
6. **Top up if you like**: The Go makes a single, concentrated cup. Top it up with hot water if you prefer a longer drink.
7. **Clean and pack**: Push out the used coffee, rinse the parts, then pack everything back into the mug and put the lid on.

The **AeroPress Go** is the travel version of the [AeroPress](https://dailyextraction.com/methods/aeropress/), released by AeroPress in 2019. It brews exactly the same way as the Original, steeping the coffee and then pressing it through a filter, but it has a smaller chamber and **packs inside its own mug** with a lid, along with everything you need to brew. Here's how to use it, what comes in the box and how it compares with the Original and the Go Plus.

## The short version

- **The travel AeroPress**, released in 2019.
- **Brews the same way as the Original**, with a smaller chamber: up to **8 oz (237 ml)**.
- **Packs into its own 15 oz (444 ml) mug** with a lid.
- **Comes with a scoop**, a fold-up stirrer, a filter holder for 20 to 25 filters and a supply of paper filters.
- **Packed, it weighs 11.4 oz (323 g)** with its accessories and 20 filters.

## What makes the AeroPress Go different?

It's all about travel. The brewing is the same as the [AeroPress Original](https://dailyextraction.com/methods/aeropress/), but everything is designed to pack into one mug:

![Diagram of the AeroPress Go packed away: the stirrer and scoop inside the plunger, the plunger inside the chamber, the chamber in the 15 oz mug with the filter cap facing up, then the filter holder and the lid on top](https://dailyextraction.com/diagrams/aeropress-go-packing.svg "Everything nests inside the mug, so the whole kit travels as one.")

## What comes in the box?

According to AeroPress and its retailers, the Go comes with:

AeroPress's own pages don't quite agree on the details:

| Filters the holder carries | Up to 20 | 25 | 20 (21 at a squeeze) |

## How much coffee does the AeroPress Go make?

The chamber holds up to **8 oz (237 ml)**, the maximum AeroPress states for the Go. It makes **a single, concentrated cup**, which you can drink as it is or top up with hot water for a longer coffee. If you want to brew more at once, AeroPress says the [AeroPress XL](https://dailyextraction.com/methods/aeropress-xl/) has twice the capacity of the Original.

## What grind size should I use?

The same as any AeroPress: around **medium-fine**. Adjust from there: finer if it tastes sour and thin, coarser if it's bitter or hard to press.

![Chart of coffee grind sizes from extra fine to extra coarse, with medium-fine highlighted for the AeroPress Go](https://dailyextraction.com/diagrams/grind-size.svg#medium-fine "The AeroPress Go sits around medium-fine on the grind scale, like the Original.")

## How do you use the AeroPress Go, step by step?

1. **Unpack it.** Take the lid off and lift out the filter holder, chamber and plunger. The stirrer and scoop are inside the plunger.
2. **Fit a filter** in the cap, screw the cap onto the chamber and stand it on the mug.
3. **Add the coffee**, measured with the scoop that comes with the Go.
4. **Add hot water to the marks** on the chamber and stir with the fold-up stirrer.
5. **Press slowly and steadily.**
6. **Top up with hot water** if you like a longer drink.

For recipes and the full technique, see the main [AeroPress guide](https://dailyextraction.com/methods/aeropress/). If you want to steep longer without drips, the [Flow Control filter cap](https://dailyextraction.com/methods/aeropress-flow-control/) fits the Go.

## How do you clean and pack the AeroPress Go?

Unscrew the filter cap over the bin and push the plunger through to pop out the used coffee and filter. Rinse the parts, then pack them back the way they came out: stirrer and scoop into the plunger, plunger into the chamber, chamber into the mug with the filter cap facing up, the filter holder on top, and the lid on.

*General guidance only. Always follow the instructions that come with your AeroPress.*

## Should I buy the AeroPress Go?

- **Buy the Go** if you want an AeroPress for travel, camping or the office, and you usually make one cup at a time.
- **Buy the [Go Plus](https://dailyextraction.com/methods/aeropress-go-plus/)** if you'd like your coffee to stay hot on the move. It brews into a double-wall, vacuum-insulated stainless steel tumbler and makes up to 10 oz per brew.
- **Buy the Original or the [Clear](https://dailyextraction.com/methods/aeropress-clear/)** if it'll mostly live at home.

More on choosing in the [AeroPress kit guide](https://dailyextraction.com/tools/aeropress-brewer/).

## AeroPress Go vs other brewers

- **[AeroPress Original](https://dailyextraction.com/methods/aeropress/):** the same brewing with a larger chamber, but no mug.

- [Portafilter](https://dailyextraction.com/glossary/portafilter/): A portafilter is the handle-and-holder you fill with ground coffee and lock into an espresso machine.
- [Body](https://dailyextraction.com/glossary/body/): Body is how heavy and textured coffee feels in your mouth, from light and tea-like to thick and syrupy.
